Sharing heritage Mexican foods from local communities to kitchens all around

At TAMOA, we firmly believe that food should embody equity, inclusivity, justice, diversity, and flavor. With persisting commitment, we work towards a food system that reflects these core values.

  • We are dedicated to supporting the livelihood and welfare of human beings and other living creatures.

  • We recognize and honor the cultural practices and ceremonies passed down through generations, where communities have carefully safeguarded special seeds in response to evolving conditions and climates while also receiving nourishment from their crops.

  • We actively engage with food producers by attentively listening, observing, and standing alongside them in their efforts to care for their lands.

  • Our commitment lies in establishing enduring relationships based on transparency, traceability, and prioritizing quality at all levels.

Tamoanchan is a lost city of abundance, a mythical place of origins, home to gods and living beings. According to our fragmented understanding of Mesoamerican myth, it is described as the sacred mountain where the cosmic tree –the main axis of the cosmos and key element to the cycle of life and death– grows. It is the place where Quetzalcóatl brought the rescued precious bones of ancient beings, seeking to breed new humans. There, he also shared the corn he saved from mount Tonacatépetl so that the gods, who were able to grind the corn with their teeth, could then feed it to humans. Tamoanchan is the ambrosial land where the lasting fruitful relationship between humanity and corn began.
